Wayanad is a North-East district of Kerala.
This place procured its name from, Vayal-naad which means ‘the land of paddy fields’. Wayanad is the land of aboriginal tribes who still lives in the woods. Wayanad has a cool weather throughout the year.
The major crop grown in the fields of Wayanad is paddy. Banana, ginger, pulses etc. are also grown in the fields. The major crops grown in the land are coffee, pepper etc. Tea plantations are also a common sight in Wayanad. Rarely, you may get a chance to see cardamom plants and orange plants.
Spending a day or two to see the varied agricultural activities happening all through the year would be a wonderful experience.
