Thirumala,which means the ‘Holy Mountains’ is near Tirupati in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. It is the most- visited holy places in the world with over 1 lakh pilgrims each day. The temple is one of the eight Sywayambu Kshetras of lord Vishnu; the formation of deity of its own. The deity here is Venkateshwara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
The temple is constructed in a traditional way, very well organized to hold all the pilgrims. The Prasadam offered at the temple is Tirupati laddu and also a famous offering done by the devotees is hair tonsuring, i.e. offering ones hair to the Lord. Brahmotsavam is the major festival of Tirupati which is celebrated every year in September.
